The Most Romantic Movie

Do you watch a lot of romantic love movies? Do you have a favorite one?

I love the movie, "You've Got Mail, it's sweet, funny, and has two of my favorite actors. But I don't think I would choose it as the most romantic movie of all time.

Do you know what  the phrase, "OF ALL TIME" means? If you think it has something to do with time then you're right!

It means the best throughout the ages, of all possible time. So if we say the movie Pretty Woman is the most romantic movie of all time, it means it's the most romantic in this lifetime, no other movie could ever compete with it and win this title.

It might help if you try to substitute the phrase "OF ALL TIME" with the word "EVER"

He's on of the greatest actors of all time (EVER)
Whitney Houston had the greatest voice
of all time (EVER)
What's the most romantic movie of all time (EVER) ?

Can you make up your own sentence with this phrase?

Ideal Valentine's Gift

Valentine's Day is tomorrow. This is a time where couples, married or unmarried, show one another how much they love each other. They may go out and celebrate, have a romantic meal at home or exchange special gifts. It's also a time to show your love and affection to friends and family members by giving each other cards, flowers, candies etc.

But for some people, like my husband, Valentine's Day is a pointless holiday. To him, there are just too many expectations for a man- what to buy, what to cook, what to wear. On top of that, he thinks we shouldn't only be reminded to show our love on Valentine's Day, it should be everyday! I have to agree with him on this one.

So what are you planning on doing this Valentine's Day and what is your ideal gift? I know I wouldn't mind a card with some money inside ;-)

Do You Believe In Love At First Sight?

2/11/2014

Do you know what it means to love someone at "first sight?"

You've probably seen it a lot in romantic movies where a woman accidentally spills her coffee on a man, he looks up, they see each other for the first time, then there are fireworks! They both know there is a powerful mutual attraction. He thinks she's "the one!"

You will also hear this from a lot of parents meeting their newborn baby for the first time, "when I saw my baby girl I knew it was love at first sight!"

The word "sight" means something that is seen, so to love at first sight means to love someone the first time you see them.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Have you ever had this connection with someone?

The Lunar New Year is a great time to talk about the Chinese Zodiac. As you probably already know, this year is the Chinese year of the horse. The Chinese zodiac, unlike the western, is represented by years and not months. Each year is represented by 12 animals.

The 12 animal signs are: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. A lot of people like to use this to predict personality type, what will happen to their career, love life or financial situation.

To find out what animal you are, look up your birth year on the to your left. For example, if you were born in 1995, you must be born the year of the pig.

By knowing what animal you are, it is easy to find out about your personality type. What animal are you? Do you believe it's true about your personality?

What Is The Best Way To Learn?

william glasser, glasser, control theory, teaching methods,

Have you ever been in a meeting or a class where all the presenter did was talk, talk, and talk? I'm sure most of you have. You probably listened and took down some notes but did you learn or remember anything?

A famous American psychiatrist, William Glasser spent most of his life studying human behavior. He says that the least amount of learning happens through reading, but can you guess where the most amount of learning happens?

Glasser believed that the most learning happens when we teach something to someone else.

Glasser had a profound impact in the field of education and has shaped the way in which teachers teach and manage their classrooms.

Years ago when I was still in school getting my graduate degree, one of my last classes was Instructional Methods which required me to examine and teach a topic to my peers. My topic was on formative assessments in the classroom. Not only did I have to try and provide my learners as much "doing," "seeing," "hearing," and "experiencing," the whole process of teaching others helped me remember so much more about my topic than just reading from a textbook.

So whatever you learn today or tomorrow, teach, share, and discuss with someone! It's the best way to learn!
