Dishwasher Salmon

4/10/2014

It's amazing what people discover these days. Some of them may be useful, some not so much.

I recently listened to a program talking about the many uses of a dishwasher. I guess it's not longer just a machine to wash the dishes for you, but can also be used to cook with! Apparently this is not a new discovery as it's been talked about for many many years. It's strange but so interesting!

Take a look at how it's done below.
If you search "dishwasher recipes" on the Internet, you'll come across so many different dishes that you could make in the dishwasher while it's cleaning your dishes for you! But this is not the only kitchen appliance that is so versatile, even the coffee maker can steam, poach, and grill for you! Check out the recipe here.

I don't know if I'll ever make anything in my dishwasher or coffee maker but this idea may be very helpful to me one day while I'm staying in a hotel with only a coffee maker available.

What about you? Will you try poaching salmon in your dishwasher or steaming vegetables in your coffee maker? Please share your creation if you do it!

Saying "thank you" never gets old. It shows good manners, expresses our emotions, makes others feel good, and of course being grateful makes us feel happier too.

There is a great quote from the famous Oprah Winfrey that says, "Be

thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough."

So be grateful and learn to say "thank you" more often and actually mean it when you say it, even for the little things!

Mood Swings!

Mood swings!!! We all have them sometimes! But what does it mean?

Think of a swing.....
Have you ever been on one as a kid?  You swing up and down, up and down. Sometimes it can get very high and moves quickly or it can swing low. It changes all the time and unexpectedly.

This is exactly what "mood swings" mean: when a person's mood goes "up and down, up and down" like a swing. It changes rapidly.

A person
may wake up feeling very happy but then he/she walks into the kitchen to make their morning coffee only to realize there's no more left! This might alter their mood suddenly and can make them go from being happy to feeling annoyed and angry. "Mood swing" means a rapid change in your state of feeling and emotions, just like a swing! Up and down, up and down.

Bad Taste

What does it mean when someone says you have "bad taste." Beware, it's not a good thing!

When we taste something we
put it in our mouths and chew. The taste may be sweet, salty, bitter, or sour. I really don't like the taste of oysters. In my opinion, it tastes bad, I prefer not to eat it, but someone else could think I'm crazy and think it's the best thing in the world!

This is the same when we say someone has "bad taste" (also known as "poor taste"). It means we don't agree with that person's choice of something
. It "tastes bad" to you, you don't like it. We say it to describe our feelings and state our opinions (and sometimes to criticize someone!)
The English Student, English Student, The English Student blog, ESL blog, ESl websites, fun ESl sites, what does bad taste mean, poor taste, bad taste in men, ESl idioms, online ESL,
If you say someone has "bad taste in men," it simply means you don't agree with that person's choices.

If you agree with your friend that Jim Carrey is the most handsome actor, then you could say, "you have good taste in men! "

This is the same as movies, music, fashion etc. I could think you have
bad taste in music but anyone who likes the same music as you will disagree with me!

So good taste or bad taste are all matters of opinion. You might think someone has bad taste in music or men but not everyone likes the same kind of men! It is really up to the individual preference.

Do you know anyone who has good or bad taste in fashion? Can you write a sentence using "bad taste" or "good taste"?
