One easy thing to remember today is that "alot" is never a word and should never be used!! Many times people mistakenly write "a lot" into one word, "alot." This is always wrong! Just like "a car," "a magazine," there is always a space between the two words. A good way to remember this is to think of "a lot" as the opposite of "a little" and you would never write it as "alittle." "A lot" can be used as an adverb ('I eat a lot" ) or a noun ("I have a lot of clothes")
